Romany Rai brings together a team with a wealth of experience, as well as creating new partnerships between Cumbrian artists. This is the first time Tom, Dan and Jay have collaborated as a team on an installation and allow them time to research and develop not only the technologies but also the language of digital installation art work.
Tom has spent half of his life living under canvas and travelling with bow-top caravans and horses. He has a Degree in film and an MSc in Creative Technology
Tom is founder and Director of both Dreamtime Film, and LLoyd & Colman (Film • Photo • Story). Tom also works with projection at music festivals, in theatres and in the realm of public art to create interactive video installations.
Previously Tom was digital video artist with outdoor art pioneers Welfare State International on One Rock, “A deeply moving and profound installation" (Peter Hewitt, ACE) and Metamorphosis, a large scale interactive video installation for Lancaster University's eCampus fibre optic network .
Tom is also the maker of International multi-award winning film Live Before You Die
Dan is a musician and sound artist who has worked as a freelancer for over 20 years with many of the leading European arts companies, festivals and organisations including Welfare State International, Dogtroep, Walk The Plank, The Sage Gateshead, Oxford Contemporary Music, Lakes Alive, FACT and Cornerhouse on work that includes sound design, composition, location recording for film, TV and radio.
Dan will respond to the moving image to create a surround soundscape.
Jay is a digital artist and special effects compositor who uses projection mapping software to animate clubs, festivals and arts events.
Jay will create the projection stages and work with Tom to map the moving image sequences accross multiple screens.
